Taking a break today…

…but a few words from outgoing Singapore Prime Minister Baby God, speaking recently to the city-state’s Chinese chamber of commerce and clan associations. A little reminder of a key difference between Singapore and Hong Kong…

In Singapore, all citizens should put Singapore and its interests first. While the Singapore Chinese share their ethnic roots with other Chinese around the world, and some Chinese feel that we are all “descendants of the Dragon”, it is important that we remember we are first and foremost Singaporeans. Recently a Straits Times journalist who was formerly based in Beijing shared his experience of being frequently questioned by locals on his identity. He would be told that since he was Chinese, he should understand and support China’s position. This journalist did not think that just because you share the same race, you would accept the same perspective. He pointed out that he felt a stronger affinity towards people who shared the same experiences growing up. He firmly believes that I am Singaporean and this is my country. I agree with him. As Singaporeans, we have our own interests to protect and our own positions to uphold.

For no reason at all – my latest toy (from Taobao): an authentic pickling jar, complete with chili sauce fermenting away.

    That fermenting chili sauce looks good. Post the recipe!

    If you’re going to expect young men to fight and die for Singapore, you need their first loyalty to be to Singapore. Their one-party-democracy has done a good job on that.

    The CCP’s got a ways to go in HK.

  3. Chinese Netizen says:

    Come now…ALL ethnic Han Chinese should sing the praises of the CCP, spy for the CCP and steal for the CCP. You don’t have a “nationality”, “identity” or unique “culture” when we’re ALL Hua Ren.

    (White guys that flew F-15s, F-16s, AV8s, F-18s, Tornadoes, Typhoons, Mirages, etc ALL exempted, of course.)

  4. Psycho Wong says:

    Why does chili sauce need fermenting? Or is there a pickle inside?

    Chinese Netizen

    Could you please explain your parenthetical observation and enlighten me as to how it relates to the paragraph which precedes it?

    Thanks in advance and apologies for being so dim.

  6. Justsayin says:

    CCP banging the anschluss drum pretty hard these days.

  7. Chinese Netizen says:

    Red Dragon: Apologies…unclear tie-in reference to A) ALL Chinese, including diaspora MUST show fealty to the CCP (according to the CCP) as it’s the one true representative of the voices of ALL Chinese People. Han or not.
    So if one is Chinese overseas (usually Han) one must steal, cheat and spy for the good of CCP China regardless of citizenship, how one culturally identifies, etc. “We’re ALL Hua Ren”….

    …Then I threw in B) EXCEPT for all the (usually) white Anglo-Saxon descended, former military aviators of above aircraft (and more) that the CCP is trying to hire over to train the CCP’s pilots in western/non Warsaw Pact aerial combat tactics, battle plans of various militaries, etc.
    So it’s okay to not be “Chinese” of you’re one of these as long as we all steer towards the goal ultimate goal of CCPChina dominating Earth.

    My bad on the poor flow of my thought process.

    @Red dragon
    I think Chinese Netizen is referring to this DB-on-crack trend of the First Lao Wai Volunteer Group AKA “The Flying Traitors”:

    (You’ve shamelessly copied the jets, now shamelessly copy the tactics!)

    Is it really necessary to quote Vagina Ip on anything? We all know what that unprincipled old dishrag stands for. Just let her bleat and let the empty hall echo her incessant BS.

    @Old Pleatherface: “The Flying Traitors”

    LOVE it!!!
