The Chief Executive says that wannabe District Council election candidates who can’t get nominated should ‘look into why they have problems’.
OK, let’s guess… Could it be the system is rigged to keep them off the ballot? Or that nominators’ contact details are secret? As the CE is quoted as saying, nominations are not designed to be easily obtained.
It’s not just pan-dem remnants who are finding it a struggle. Michael ‘enlightened pro-establishment’ Tien’s little group has managed to get only one of its five hopefuls nominated.
Not perhaps the best way to boost turnout – but that doesn’t seem to be a major consideration.
Snappy new slogan suggestion: You can’t vote for the candidates you want, but we’d like you to come along anyway’.
Surprised my ISP let me access this site: HK Rule of Law Monitor’s latest report.
So we have another “improved” election.
If the voter turnout is so low, then the government should also consider why.
Surely a low turnout after previous record turnouts, is a massive failure and shows voters lack of confidence in the candidates and the system?
‘look into why they have problems’
What a typical pompous prick answer by someone with no mandate put into a position by puppet masters as a performing monkey.
@Chinese Netizen
Right on.
HK Policy Address 2023 Headline: No One Gives A Fuck
I get the feeling that Hong Kong is slowly bleeding to death.
@Lo Wu Vuitton
Everywhere is, and many at a much, much faster rate. You’ll be soon be dead, so get over it. One other thing – democratic elections achieve nothing. They just make you feel good for a month or so if your ‘team’ wins.
Rectum #4: Life must suck in your household. Hopefully you haven’t bred.
I think that the DC elections will be even lower then the last LegCo elections.
@Reactor #4 – saying “democratic elections achieve nothing” ignores the fact that they at least got Donald Trump out of the White House – unless you’re stupid enough to think that’s not a net gain for humanity.
@Chinese Netizen
Re my ‘bred’ state, no. However, the HK$20,000 prize money they have just begun offering has certainly got me thinking.
@ Reactor
But we always knew you were cheap.
@Paul Lewis
You big fool you!
If turnout is low obviously everyone in HKG is happy and satisfied and no changes are needed!
