  1. Casira says:

Did he hurt the feelings of the security guards when they dived gracefully towards the holy grounds of the Forecourt ?

  2. Stanley Lieber says:

To suffer from the delusion that one has the power to ban ideas must be intoxicating. To pretend to possess such power when one knows perfectly well that it is a delusion, as Mrs. Lam presumably does, is an act of pure self-abnegation.

  3. paul serfaty says:

    “…the Government shall not allow…”
either poor use of English, or a reflection of what they have been told, or both together.
‘Will not…’ would be correct usage, though even then, from which authority it proposes to give itself power to disallow legally permitted statements to be made at public meetings in HK is left unclear.

  4. Chris Maden says:

And in doing so no doubt hurt the feelings of “all Chinese people”…

  5. Red Dragon says:

This has to be one of the worst pieces of English ever to have emanated from the Hong Kong “government”.

And, my God, that’s saying something.

  6. Paul says:

The key clause here is “with the consent of the public meeting organiser”. This has now given them the justification they need to ban CHRF from the democratic process and from future demos at Civic Square.

  7. Chinese Netizen says:

@Red Dragon: I think it’s now a point of pride in the government to publicly display the deterioration of English language usage skills. Sort of a competition between departments to show who’s now “least influenced by those pesky white colonialist remnants!” so the CCP can take notes on their correct actions.

  8. Puny Earthlings — bow to Hksarg The Merciless! says:

“HKSARG reiterates its zero tolerance on HK independence”

Is it just me or does HKSARG sound like an alien baddie from some sort of camp early 20th century b-movie sci-fi like Flash Gordon?
